Whiting Field celebrates 66th anniversary

Day packed full of military equipment demonstrations, music and fun.

Since 1943, Santa Rosa County has been home to Whiting Field Naval Air Station. Throughout the 66 years, it has served as a training base awarding wings of gold to the "best of the best" military pilots.

The sprawling 12,000-acre installation grew from just a few isolated buildings built by prisoners of war to a facility with thirteen outlying fields and two primary fields. To commemorate that history, Whiting Field is hosting a fun-filled celebration for the community.

The Milton Amateur Radio Club set up and operated a Special Event Station  W 4 V I Y during the days festivities.

Here are a few pictures from the Club's set up. Pictures are in chronological order from set up to on-the-air.
